A Soft Skin Adhesive (SSA) Patch for Extended Release of Pirfenidone in Burn Wounds

چکیده

As much as half or more of deep partial-thickness burn wounds develop hypertrophic scarring and contracture. Once formed, treatments are only minimally effective. Pirfenidone (Pf), indicated for treatment idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, is an anti-inflammatory anti-fibrotic small molecule that potentially can be repurposed a preventative against in wounds. We present drug-in-matrix patch with soft skin adhesive (SSA) wound-contacting layer multi-day drug delivery Pf into at the point injury. Our construction consists SSA (Liveo™ MG7-9850, Dupont, Wilmington, DE, USA) wound fixation, acrylic co-polymer matrix (DURO-TAK 87-2852, Henkel, Düsseldorf, Germany) (Pf) reservoir, outermost protective polyurethane backing. By employing design, loaded high 2 mg/cm2. Compared to preparations commercial films, adding markedly reduces stripping observed under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, addition varying thicknesses did not interfere vitro release kinetics permeation ex vivo porcine skin. The easily applied onto removed from on Duroc pigs. Continuous dosing by patches (>200 μg/cm2/day) reduced proinflammatory biomarkers produced manual laboratory-scale process showed excellent stability, maintaining intact physical properties biological activity up one year long-term (25 °C 60% RH) 6 months accelerated (40 75% test conditions. To manufacture our safe-and-extended-release patch, we scale-up processes using machine-driven automated roll-to-roll pilot scale coater.

Skin stretching for primary closure of acute burn wounds.

BACKGROUND In burn care, a well-acknowledged problem is the suboptimal scar outcome from skin grafted burn wounds. With the aim of improving this, we focused on a new technique: excision of the burn wound followed by primary closure, thereby using a skin-stretching device to stretch the adjacent healthy skin. The short- and long-term effect of Skin Stretch was compared to split skin grafting (S...

Evaluating the effect of medical honey and stapler on skin graft fixation in burn wounds: A Randomized clinical Trial

Background: One of the uses of honey is related to wound healing. A stapler normally connects the skin graft to the underlying tissue. Due to its high cost, lack of production in the country, and causing physical damage to the tissue, an alternative option is needed. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of using medical honey compared to staplers in attaching skin grafts to burn...

A clinical trial of tissue adhesive (histoacryl) in skin closure of groin wounds.

The use of tissue adhesives has been widely studied since the 1960s. Since then they have found use in specialties like plastic surgery, neurosurgery, ENT surgery and dental surgery. Several papers have reported their safe use, both clinically and experimentally, particularly of the newer homologue n-butyl/2-cyanoacrylate (Histoacryl). In this study 43 patients (46 wounds) whose operations invo...
